Does Dakine make good tie down straps?
Between the regular and baja versions, we have sold thousands of Dakine tie downs (and many other Dakine products) over the years and rarely hear negative feedback from anything Dakine. These straps get the job done and keep your board ding free.
What are the straps made of?
The Dakine Baja tie down straps are made from a webbed polyester blend with the perfect amount of elasticity to secure your boards. The buckles are housed by a soft stretchy neoprene cover.
Do I need rack pads?
While tie downs keep your surfboard secure, we suggest using rack pads to keep your surfboard safe on the underside. Use Aero rack pads for flat or rectangular bars, and standard rack pads for round or square crossbars. Don't have a roof rack with crossbars? Consider soft racks.
Do I need Dakine baja tie downs or regular Dakine tie downs?
Dakine Baja tie downs feature extra neoprene padding around the buckle. This will add protection to your surfboard or whatever else you are transporting. If you don't need extra padding, the Dakine 12' tie downs will work fine. I personally prefer the Baja, but the regular version functions perfectly.
