The DaKine Aero Rack Pads are used to pad the top of an existing roof rack on a car or SUV. They come in a pack of two, are 18" wide, and the Regular size can fit most roof racks. For larger roof racks, like on a Hummer, we recommend the XL. The pads are the same size on both the Regular and XL but the Velcro sleeve is wider on the XL to accommodate thicker bars. Both are made from custom extruded foam and durable 600D polyester fabric.

How wide is the pad?
It's almost 4" wide.
Should I buy two if I want two pads or does it come with two pads?
They are sold in pairs so by selecting a quantity of 1, you will receive two pads.

There are two sizes of widths....
There are two sizes of widths. I bought the smaller size which is still perfect for my 9'3" longboard. I actually wish it was a tad shorter because on my subaru I can only fit one pad width wise on the rack. If it was about 1 inch shorter, I could fit two side by side and double my carrying capacity. As it is, I'm limited to about 3 boards total. But the pads themselves are strong sturdy and easy to put on.

Can't beat the price on these...
Can't beat the price on these pads. Using on a Subaru Tribeca with factory aero rack. Just carried my cherished Dave Endress and vintage G&S longboard to Hatteras, 9+ hours and back. Snug, secure, noiseless. Seem durable, no compression so far. Also working great for my kayak.

This pad combo is excellent...
This pad combo is excellent for the aero roof rack design. Stable, resilient, seems built to last. I purchased two pairs mounted side by side, so I can also use the padded rack for canoe carry. My son admired them...that is high praise.

After purchasing some other rack pads...
After purchasing some other rack pads that claimed to fit my Xterra but did not, I did some research and settled on the XL DaKine Aero Rack Pads. They fit my Xterra bars and are great quality to support my paddle board.

Very pleased with them. Heavy duty materials. Fit the Subaru Outback side-to-side roof rack bars perfectly. Hauling two 16 foot kayaks tied on deck down on two sets of 14" pads. Look like they will last.

Only thing I would consider is...
Only thing I would consider is that if you don't have bars wider than 4 inches, I wouldn't buy the xl's. They are pretty wide. I have 3" wide bars and they are big on them.

Pads work excellent on my Yakima...
Pads work excellent on my Yakima aero bars, thick Velcro sticks great, I modified mine to go on both sides of the towers and it’s working great!
